1979

This evocative drawing by Irving Petlin is executed in pastel on fine Vélin paper and dates from 1979, a mature period in the artist’s career.

The work is hand-signed and dated in pencil by Irving Petlin at the lower margin.

With inscription on the reverse - visible through plexiglas

The composition presents a haunting, human-like figure that seems to emerge from a fragile, eroded landscape. Soft layers of pastel create a muted palette of ochres, pale yellows, and subtle greens, while darker accents define the facial features and torso, lending the image a sense of vulnerability and quiet intensity.

The work is professionally framed in our own frame-shop, in exclusive hand-made wooden frame, with Plexiglas® Optical HC, scratch-resistant and UV-protected. Preserving its original integrity and visual impact.

Framed size approx. 72 x 52 cm.

Irving Petlin (US 1934 - 2018) studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later in Paris, where he was influenced by European modernism and existential philosophy.
