1998
This original gouache by Sol LeWitt is a serene and atmospheric work in which color, gesture, and conceptual structure subtly converge.
The gouache is signed and dated in pencil lower right (“S. LeWitt 98”) and executed on thick Fabriano paper with dry stamp.
The composition is built up through soft, layered brushstrokes in subtle blue and light tonalities, creating an almost floating and ethereal surface. In contrast to LeWitt’s more rigid geometric works and wall drawings, this piece reveals a more painterly and intuitive approach, where repetition and variation emerge from movement rather than strict systems. The more saturated blue edges frame the central field and enhance the sense of depth and spatial vibration.
This unique gouache is professionally framed, mounted on linen and float-mounted in a custom-made acid-free passe-partout, presented in a handcrafted wooden frame with UltraVue® UV70 museum glass.
Framed size approx. 54 × 54 cm.
