2004

A rare and personal signed work by acclaimed Japanese contemporary artist Yoshitomo Nara, created in 2004.  This unique object features a set of two art cards showcasing Nara’s unmistakable style—emotionally charged portraits of wide-eyed, confrontational children with subtly defiant expressions.

Boldly inscribed in black marker by the artist with the dedication “Für Karl”—a personal reference to the late Karl Heinz Rummeny (1956–2022), a notable German curator, artist, and gallerist.
Nara’s signature appears beside the handwritten note, making this a singular and intimate piece.
Rendered in soft tones and flat surfaces, the imagery draws on manga aesthetics, punk culture, and existential depth.

This collector’s item is beautifully presented, float-mounted in a custom-made acid-free passe-partout and set within a deep handcrafted white wooden frame. The glazing is Plexiglas® Optical HC, offering UV protection and a scratch-resistant surface while enhancing visual depth.
Size framed : approx. 34 x 44 cm
