This powerful color lithograph by Joan Miró, created in 1967, exemplifies the artist’s mature visual language, in which gesture, symbol, and color converge into a poetic and highly expressive composition. Bold black forms float across the surface, intersecting with vibrant red and yellow areas and delicate linear marks, creating a dynamic balance between spontaneity and structure. The composition evokes Miró’s recurring symbolic universe, where abstract signs suggest birds, celestial bodies, eyes, and organic movement rather than literal representation.
The print is hand-signed in pencil by Joan Miró in the lower right and numbered in pencil in the lower left. It is documented in the standard catalogues raisonnés: Mourlot no. 357b and Cramer no. 111.
Printed on high-quality Vélin BFK Rives paper with watermark, the lithograph was produced at the renowned Atelier Maeght in Paris, a workshop closely associated with Miró and many of the most important artists of the 20th century. The work was published in support of the Art Fund of the Hochschule St. Gallen by a consortium of art collectors, galleries, and cultural institutions, underscoring its historical and cultural relevance. Sheet size approx. 66 x 51 cm
Joan Miró (1893–1983) was one of the most influential figures of modern art, associated with Surrealism while developing a highly personal visual language that bridged abstraction, poetry, and symbolism.
