Jacques Doucet (1924-94) was educated at the Montparnasse Academy after being released as a political prisoner in World War II. This experience greatly influenced his work, as did his meeting with Corneille. In 1948, Doucet joined the Cobra movement. His work is characterized by an abstract expressionism and pasty brushstrokes.
