As one of the most influential performance artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, Marina Abramovic is known for her explorations of endurance, vulnerability, and human connection. In this work, she presents herself in a Madonna-like pose, holding a nude infant, wrapped in flowing fabric, in a composition reminiscent of Renaissance religious iconography. The dramatic lighting and direct gaze add a sense of mysticism and intensity, reinforcing themes of motherhood, purity, and existential questioning.

Marina Abramovic (b. 1946) is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist, widely regarded as the pioneer of performance art. Her works challenge the limits of the body and mind, exploring themes of pain, endurance, identity, and transformation. Over a career spanning five decades, she has pushed artistic boundaries with groundbreaking performances such as Rhythm (1974), The Artist is Present (2010), and her collaborations with Ulay.
