1950/1979

This striking original etching on handmade paper, by renowned Belgian artist Pierre Alechinsky, stems from his early Cobra period.
Signed by the artist in pencil lower right
Numbered lower left
Sheet size: approx. 45 × 32 cm

Though the motif dates back to 1950, it was reissued in 1979 as part of the exclusive portfolio Les Ateliers du Marais, featuring five works that revisit Alechinsky's foundational visual language.
The composition is a bold interplay of dense lines, abstract symbolism, and graphic texture—hallmarks of Alechinsky’s dynamic visual vocabulary. With its rich mark-making and strong architectural rhythm, the image reflects Alechinsky’s deep connection to both the subconscious and the spontaneous.
