1998
This vibrant silkscreen by Rupprecht Geiger showcases his signature mastery of radiant color and minimalist geometry.
Hand-signed and dated in pencil lower right: K. C. Geiger 98.
This piece is part of the rare Kalender 1991 series — one of the very few instances in which Geiger individually signed each sheet. These KC-signed calendar works were produced in extremely limited numbers, making them highly sought-after by collectors worldwide.
The composition features a luminous transition from deep cobalt blue at the base to vivid magenta in the upper field, set against a grounding black rectangle below.
The work is professionally framed in a custom-made wooden frame, hand-crafted in the Netherlands, and fitted with Plexiglas® Optical HC, providing UV protection, scratch resistance, and minimal reflection.
Framed size approx. 67 × 62 cm.
Rupprecht Geiger (1908–2009) was one of the most important figures in post-war German abstract art. Renowned for his bold color compositions and iconic use of red and fluorescent tones, he co-founded the avant-garde artist group ZEN 49, dedicated to a spiritual, non-figurative visual language based on pure color fields and reduced forms. His work occupies a unique position between geometric abstraction and color theory, achieving an intense atmospheric effect with minimal means.
