During the first Gulf War Ahmed Alsoudani (Bagdad 1975) fled Iraq after which he applied for asylum in America. Through his paintings and drawings he approaches the subject of war through aesthetics. Alsoudani's inspiration comes directly from his own experiences as a child, as well as his concerns about contemporary global conflicts.
Alsoudani's Untitled is hardly recognizable as a portrait. Organic textures are combined with geometric shapes with an almost cartoon-like effect. Ahmed Alsoudani currently works and lives in Berlin.
