1970
This work is an original screen print from 1970 by Valerio Adami. The composition depicts a stylized, monumental figure inspired by the sphinx, constructed through Adami’s characteristic bold black contour lines and clearly defined flat color planes. The palette of pinks, reds, blues, and soft pastel tones creates a strong visual contrast and gives the figure an almost architectural presence.
The work is hand-signed and dated in pencil at the lower right and numbered in pencil at the lower left.
The sheet measures 65 × 50 cm
Valerio Adami (b.1935) is regarded as one of the most important European artists of the post-war period. His work is characterized by an intellectual visual language influenced by Pop Art, marked by precise line work, structured narratives, and references to mythology and iconography. In the early 1970s, Adami reached a mature phase in which his graphic style became fully crystallized; this work is a representative example of that period.
