1982

Unique signed Menu with ice cream specialties from the legendary Tages-Restaurant & Café “Journal am Kö” in Kassel, combining functional charm with conceptual depth.

On the front, a richly coloured photograph presents an irresistible array of ice cream sundaes. Beuys’ bold signature in black floats across the imagery, adding his unmistakable artistic presence.

The reverse reveals “Unsere Eis-Spezialitäten”, the ice cream specialties, complete with prices in Deutsche Mark and the famous “Kö-Pokal” among the listed desserts.

While not part of his formal projects, Beuys was deeply connected to Kassel’s art scene, especially through his groundbreaking ecological and social artwork 7000 Oaks, presented at documenta 7 in 1982.

His philosophy of the “expanded concept of art” blurred the lines between life and artistic practice, elevating even a café menu into a space for imagination and exchange.
This work is a tangible example of Beuys’ belief that art can inhabit every corner of daily life.

Framed between two panels of Plexiglas®, both sides are fully visible, allowing the viewer to appreciate its visual richness and conceptual wit.
Size framed approx. 47 x 47 cm
