An exceptional original photograph of a bareheaded Joseph Beuys, a rare and unique piece.

This unique piece is manually edited by Beuys.

The photograph is personally signed in pencil in the center of the photo.

What makes this photo extra striking is that Beuys appears without his signature felt hat, a highly unusual and rarely seen moment. However, his iconic hat is still prominently featured in the foreground, reinforcing its symbolic presence in his artistic identity.

The photograph has been printed in sepia tones and subtly enhanced by Beuys, giving it a distinctive aesthetic that aligns with Beuys conceptual approach

One of Beuys most recognizable trademarks was his felt hat, an accessory he wore almost constantly from the early 1960s onward. The hat became an integral part of his persona, symbolizing his ideas of protection, warmth, and transformation key themes in his artistic philosophy.

Felt itself held deep meaning for Beuys, inspired by his own mythology, including the famous account of his rescue by nomadic Tatars during World War II, who allegedly wrapped him in felt and fat to keep him warm.

Professional framed, floated in a made-to-measure custom-cut, thick white acid-free passe-partout , in handmade bespoke black wooden frame with Plexiglas® Optical HC scratch-resistant and UV-protected.
Size framed : approx. 54 x 44 cm
