1993
An exceptional work featuring a lithograph by Panamarenko, a rare Artist’s Proof.
The work is hand-signed in pencil on the distinctive Panamarenko sticker with red stamp, positioned at the upper left of the piece.
It is a rare épreuve d’artiste (E.A.), clearly marked in pencil on the stamped label.
Created in 1993, it is a striking example of Panamarenko’s playful yet visionary approach to science, technology, and space exploration. The work also bears a printed signature in the lower right corner. The lithograph is mounted on blue cardboard, exactly as originally issued and published by Galerie Ronny Van de Velde, Antwerp.
It presents a fantastical depiction of a figure in a space suit equipped with propeller-like shoulder drives. Parts of the suit are rendered in silver print — a technique Panamarenko frequently employed to add a futuristic and tactile quality to his works.
The piece is presented in its original Plexiglas® showcase. This display case enhances the museum-like character of the object. Bearing natural signs of age, the vitrine underscores the authenticity and historical value of the edition. The case can be displayed both standing and wall-mounted.
Size case approx. 60 × 40 × 4 cm.
Panamarenko (1940–2019) was a Belgian visionary who uniquely merged art, science, and technology. His works — often inspired by flying machines, space travel, and alternative energy sources — blend poetry with engineering precision. Straddling the line between utopia and reality, he remains one of the most intriguing artistic figures of the 20th century.
